Apart from a computer, an ADSL enabled telephone line and an ADSL Modem or Router, you will also need a Micro-filter in order to use ADSL.
ADSL works by splitting your telephone line into two distinct frequencies, one for voice calls and a higher one transferring data at high-speeds. It is the differences in these frequencies that enable ADSL users to make voice calls even when accessing the Internet.
However, without a Micro-filter the two frequencies conflict with each other and prevent the use of a telephone/fax through the telephone line when the Internet is being used. Micro-filters act as a barrier between the two frequencies and prevent any conflicts. Even if you are intending to use your ADSL line for Internet access only, you will still require a Micro-filter in order to connect your equipment to your ADSL line.
If you have more than one telephone socket attached to the telephone line you intend to use for ADSL, you will need to order a Micro-filter for each socket.
Alternatively, if you intend to use a modem to access the Internet, we can provide one to you for a one-off fee. |
